Choosing the right lawyer
Finding a lawyer to represent you during a criminal investigation or prosecution is one of the most critical decisions you will make. It requires absolute trust. We strongly encourage you to speak with different practitioners to find a lawyer you can collaborate with effectively — someone who will stand by you for the long haul.
However, legal representation is not a commoditised service. Not every lawyer is built for the complexities of sensitive criminal defence.
When we are not the right fit
Our practice is highly specialised, resource-intensive, and built on mutual candidness. We are likely not the right firm for you if you:
- Prioritise cost over capability: If you are looking for the lowest possible fee or a budget defence, our firm will not match your expectations.
- Do not wish to follow legal advice: Effective defence requires collaboration; we expect our clients to respect and act on our strategic guidance.
- Only want to hear good news: We do not provide false comfort. We tell you what you need to hear based on the law and the evidence, not just what you want to hear.
What we deliver
We provide robust, high-calibre defence for clients who demand meticulous attention to detail and unwavering support. As your counsel, we will:
- Partner with you directly: We work closely with you to dissect every facet of your case, identifying the optimal path forward, whether that means contesting the charges or advancing a strong mitigation strategy.
- Navigate the system for you: We guide you through the highly stressful and complex terrain of the criminal justice system, especially with practical issues like bail, court attendances and what to expect at your hearings.
- Provide realistic, unvarnished advice: We offer an honest, experienced appraisal of your situation and advise you on realistic outcomes so you can make informed decisions.
Our fee structure
An exceptional defence requires deep experience, exhaustive preparation, and significant intellectual investment. We believe that you get what you pay for, and we do not compromise on the quality of our advocacy.
1. The initial consultation
Every case is entirely unique, and a bespoke defence cannot be packaged into a generic template. We require an initial consultation to review the facts of your matter, assess the immediate risks, and discuss your immediate next steps.
- Consultation fee: We charge a fixed fee for this initial assessment, reflecting the time and specialised expertise dedicated to your file.
- Fee waiver: Should you choose to formally retain our firm to represent you moving forward, this initial consultation fee will be fully credited and waived against your structural legal fees.
2. Tailored fee quotes
We do not provide standard price lists or over-the-phone quotes. A fair and accurate estimate of legal fees can only be determined after our initial consultation. Once we understand the specific nuances, volume of evidence, and potential complexities of your case, we will provide a transparent, tailored fee structure designed specifically for your defence.
